Request for Transportation

Criteria

The Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario (STEO) does recognize that exceptional situations may require student transportation to be appproved. These approvals are made on an individual basis and are reviewed yearly. Transportation will only be provided within the defined school zone for the program in which the student is registered. School transportation will not be provided if additional costs are incurred, if the route needs to be changed or if it negatively affects a student who is already riding.
Requests received for the beginning of a new school year may not be reviewed until the end of September, after the bus loads have stabilized.

Procedure

Exceptions are reviewed annually. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must complete the 'request for Transportation' form. Approval may be granted if the following conditions are met:
  1. Student lives or has a sitter in the school's attendance boundary. (Student can only ride one bus)
  2. A seat is available on the required bus.
  3. A bus stop already exists.
  4. The route schedule and times are not affected.
  5. The student must get to an existing bus stop.
  6. Requirement, if for the entire school year.
  7. No additional cost to STEO

STEO receives the request and

  1. Analyses the request as per the above conditions, from October 1st to mid August it may take up to 14 working days from the receipt of the form to determine whether or not transportation can be provided
  2. If transportation is approved the parents/guardian will be notified by STEO via e-mail or letter.
